Health & Wellness Counseling
In our commitment to educating the whole person, the Health and Wellness Counselors at STVM support students' social, emotional, and academic needs.
Our counsleors are available during the school day to meet with students, individually or in groups, and conduct classroom lessons. Counselors advocate for the individual needs of students and families while also assisting students with self-advocacy, teaching them the skills to communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators. Counselors also support students in assessing their abilities, interests, and achievements to make informed decisions about their future. They provide professional assistance and support to students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change, or other situations that may impede student success. Health and Wellness Counselors recognize and respond to student mental health needs and assist students and families in accessing resources. They share strategies that support student achievement with parents, teachers, other educators, and community organizations, and provide referrals for additional assistance and information through school or community resources.
